Erice

19.11.03

The beautifully cobbled streets and alleys of the mediaeval hilltop town would be full of hot tourists in the summer. We much enjoyed them almost to ourselves.

Und Tauben

This pretty corner was much favoured by the doves. You walked past at your own risk.

The friendly Italian guide at the Norman bastion on the rock above related the history of this dreamy little castle below. Unfortunately we didn't understand much more than Amore.

Here the view away to the north-western tip of Sicily.

The book says you can see (SW) from the bastion across to Africa on a clear day, but the guide confessed he never had.
