connected with Pension, the letter should be addressed to The Secretary, Royal Hospital, Chelsea, S.W.; the applicant must state distinctly his name in full, his Regiment, rate of Pension,  and date of admission to Pension - quoting, at the same time, the Chelsea Number.

Instructions for the guidance of the Pensioner in drawing his Pension. 

Pensioners will be paid by the Staff Officers of Pensioners of the Districts in which they may respectively reside, either Quarterly or at such other periods as may hereafter be authorized. Every Pensioner is at liberty to remove to any other District about his lawful business; but he must bear in mind that if he does so without first apprizing his Staff Officer of his intention, and signing his transfer Certificate, no provision can be made for paying him in the District to which he may remove. When a Pensioner resides at the Head Quarters of the District, he should apply in person to the Staff Officer to be transferred, or if at any Out-Station of the said District to the Staff Officer when he attends to make payment, or in his absence to the Serjeant of such Out-Station, who will certify his wish to remove to the Staff Officer.

Any Pensioner guilty of violence or outrage towards the Staff Officers, or other Persons employed under them in paying the Pensioners, will be punished by the loss, either of a part or the whole of his Pension, in addition to any other Punishment which the Law may inflict for such offence.

Any Pensioner convicted of Felony, or proved to the satisfaction of the Royal Commissioners to have been guilty of an attempt to commit a fraud in the receipt of Pension or Prize Money, or of other gross misconduct, will be struck off the Pension List.

Out-Pensioners are not allowed to receive their Pensions for any period during which they may reside in any Foreign Country (not forming part of Her Majestys Dominions), without special permission from the Secretary at War.

These Instructions apply equally to the cases of Men residing Abroad, as regards their removal to other Districts, and their conduct towards the Officers by whom their Pensions are paid.

 

                 N.B. - The personating or falsely assuming the Name or Character of an Out-Pensioner, in order to obtain his Pension Money, or procuring any other to do the same, is made FELONY by Act of Parliament.

This Certificate is not transferable, and is no security for debt.
